■ GI GLASSES とは？？
<アメリカ軍 ミリタリー眼鏡 >
軍用語で用いられる”GI”とは、アメリカ陸軍の兵士の俗称です。官給品“Government Issue”の略語として用いられております。
今回のGI GLASSESは60年代第二次世界大戦後生産されたもので、それ以前のワイヤータイプのフレームから、セルロースアセテートに変更となった歴史的に貴重な資料です。このクリアグレーのモデルは68年に生産が終了となっており、コレクターズアイテムとしても高い人気を誇ります。未使用デットストックの場合、５前後、状態が良いとそれ以上で取引されています。
形状はウェリントンシェイプにダイヤ型のリベットが特徴で、このワンポイントがデザインを引き締めています。近頃は飾りだけのイミテーションリベットも多いですが、こちらは裏側の蝶番をおさえて補強としての役割をしっかりと果たしています。
