This is a knit with a pattern that is rarely seen in Smedley.

1784年、創業者であるジョン スメドレー氏とその共同経営者により、イギリスのダービシャー州マトロックのリーミルズに同社が設立され、綿糸の紡績と生地作りからはじまり、徐々にニットウェアの生産へと事業を拡大していったという。
「30ゲージ」という比類なき編み目の繊細さ。ゲージとは編み目の細かさの単位。一般的にゆったりと編まれたローゲージニットが1.5〜3ゲージぐらい、ハイゲージニットが10ゲージぐらいとするなら、30ゲージがどれだけ細かく、高密度で、繊細に編まれているか、おわかりだろう。他のニットメーカーでは真似できないこの30ゲージのニットがジョン スメドレーたる所以だ。これにより、極上の着心地や肌さわりの良さ、シルキーな質感を実現。
さらにボディと袖を完璧なつなぎ目にするため、必ず熟練の職人が手作業で行うというこだわりも。
英国王室御用達。世界中のセレブや007のジェームス ボンドもジョン スメドレーのニットの虜に最高級の素材を使い、有能な職人たちによって編まれた高級ニット。エリザベス女王は兼ねてからJOHN SMEDLEYの愛用者であり自ら店舗に足を運んでいたそうだ。「最低5年以上英国王室に商品提供する」という条件もクリアし、JOHN SMEDLEYは英国王室御用達ブランドとして確かな地位を確立している。
