アメリカ人アーティスト、エルズワース・ケリー（1923-2015）の作品「ひまわり」（1957年）が描かれたルイジアナ博物館のポスター。このポスターは、ルイジアナ博物館で 2012 年に開催されたアーティストとの展覧会に合わせて印刷されたもので、植物や花の絵 40 点が展示されていました。ケリーは生涯以上にわたり、米国における抽象芸術の課題を投げかけました。

エルズワース・ケリーは、ハード・エッジ・ペインティング、カラー・フィールド、ポップ・アートの米国の代表的な人物の一人としても知られており、新しい形式のキャンバスを実験したこともありますが、作品「ひまわり」の中で、まったく異なる、ジェスチャーの少ない、自分自身の側面。

1948 年から 1954 年にかけてフランスに滞在したことで、自然への魅了と綿密な観察の基礎が築かれ、ケリーはここでクロード モネ、ジャン アルプ、アンリ マティスなどの芸術家からインスピレーションを得て、抽象的なイメージを発展させました。

ケリーの絵は、植物の細い輪郭の線が強烈で生き生きと見えるように、シンプルかつ丁寧に形を大切にして描かれています。
