PICK UP PLAYGROUND

公園にバスケットボールコートがあり続ける、また日本中に増えていくという未来のために、行われるイベント。
海外では公園に集まった多様なプレイヤー達が即席のチームを組んで行うゲームのことをピックアップゲームと呼びますが、コートの周りのゴミ拾う行為も含めて「PICK UP PLAYGROUND」と名づけました。
イベントに集まったプレイヤーは老若男女問わず全員でピックアップゲームを行い、終わったあとは参加者全員でゴミを拾う。
そのイベントを通じて、顔見知りが増え、日常的な利用の中でも会話が生まれ、ひいてはコミュニティが育まれていく。コミュニティによってコートには自治が生まれ、そのコートの利用のルールが利用者のモラルによってつくられていく。そんな未来を描いています。

漫画家生活かけだしの頃、原稿仕事の始まる前や終わった後、私は屋外リングのある場所を求めて、明け方の武蔵野を自転車でさまよっていました

あれから30数年。
屋外リングの数は増えましたが、部活か学校の休み時間でしかやれない状況は、実はそれほど変わっていないのかもしれません。バスケはもっと私たちの生活の近くにあっていいと思っていたところ、「PICK UP PLAYGROUND」のお話を聞き、その考え方に深く共感しました

プレイできる場所に感謝しその場所をきれいにすること。
自分だけでなく他の人のことをおもんばかって共存していくこと。
これらは私たちの家庭や部活や身近な場所で知らず知らず受け継がれてきた考え方とも通じるし、社会の個性と言えるものだと思います。年齢性別身体能力にかかわらず、バスケがしたいなと思った時に気軽にプレイできる場所が増えていくことを願っています

ところで「PUP」のロゴには、「スラムダンク」の赤い髪の天才..がちらっと見えています。この活動を、あまり出しゃばることなくそっと後押ししていきたいという、私の気持ちの表れだと思っていただければ幸いです
